The School of Public Health at Texas A&M University is searching for an Associate Professor or Professor in the Department of Public Health Studies. We invite applications for a tenure-track (or tenured) , 11 month, faculty appointment.

The open rank professor will contribute to the teaching, research and service activities of the School of Public Health-McAllen Campus focusing on advancing the schools global health mission with a focus on Latin America and Texas-Mexico border regions. Duties will include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses onsite and/or online, conducting and mentoring global health research, and be engaged in community service activities throughout Texas Lower Rio Grande Valley. The position also consists of administrative duties. The selected faculty member will be expected to spend 15-20% time as the lead academic for the McAllen Campus. Teach graduate and undergraduate courses onsite and online. Conduct and mentor global health research. Engage in community service activities throughout Texas Lower Rio Grande Valley. Oversee course review and development, integrating educational effectiveness evaluations. Assignment of faculty to teach courses in accordance with established course schedules; amending course schedules as necessary to meet student needs. Lead design, implementation and evaluation of student culminating and practice experiences. Oversee overall evaluation of department programs. Other duties as assigned.

PhD or other appropriate doctoral degree from an accredited institution in epidemiology or other relevant public health discipline. Prior experience teaching students in higher education. Must possess a demonstrated record of research and scholarship in global/Latin American health. Must possess highly effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with interdisciplinary teams. A proven track record of obtaining extramural funding is essential for those seeking a senior level appointment. Must offer evidence of accomplishment in teaching and scholarly activity and strong research skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.
